It’s over. Silence is not gold. Silence is easy.

My [very short] opinion about the Mosque “issue”.

I posted this on a message board I belong to and I’m c&p it here.

I read people talking about “respect” (or lack thereof) a lot lately and it saddens me because they are so caught up on the political/religious aspect of it all that they are missing the pic picture.

A person who suffers an act of violence (regardless of it’s severity, as people react differently), may have a reaction to generalize the characteristics of it’s aggressor.

Said reaction, however, should be treated as a trauma, exactly because it’s a traumatic feeling that should have no place in the real world. It’s a very valid feeling, yes, but it’s not a feeling that should be nurtured. It’s a feeling that should be dissected and broken down by the victim and often a competent specialist.

Applying said feeling into the real world, specially when it affects others, makes you a bigot. Regardless you’ve been a victim (if you feel that way, please look for help) or just trying to further your political/religious agenda (which makes you a bigot and an asshole).

“10 Things Go!”

This will be a regular on the blog. On occasion, I’m going to post a list of 10 links, regarding things that I thought are worth mentioning (for whatever reason).

Whoever is reading this, feel free to post your own “10 things” on the comments.

Here is my first list (not in any specific order):

1- Mike Libby’s Insect Lab This is probably one of the coolest things I have ever encountered in my life. And I encountered a lot of cool things. Mike takes insects and adds gears, coils and such, creating a mutant android ( whether is a grasshopper, a beetle or an otherworldly scorpion) that is absolutely incredible.

2- Stephane Halleux is an amazing sculptor. It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to sculpture, but her work is really fantastic. I know it may seem like we are going on a Steampunk theme here, but that’s because I freaking love it pure coincidence.

3- Artificium is an Austrian furniture store. Their stuff is so….luxurious, but im the best sense of the word. There’s a lot to look at, but my personal favorite collections are the opulent Vintage/Retro and the whimsical and rich Nature

4-Manbroidery Flickr group It’s men embroidering. I mean, it can’t get much better than that in life.

5-Iron Man R2D2. Pretty self-explanatory. And awesome.

6-Bob Causey ~ Bob is a sculptor of movie statues/busts. Click on his Gallery and be prepared because he’ll freak the fuck out of you with his talent. His “Lost Boys'” David, his Hellboy and Heath Ledger’s Joker (which is arguably most realistic single piece of sculpture one has ever encountered), are insane (no pun intended. /geek). As both appreciator of the arts and as a painter of busts, I can only have major respect for the guy. He uses silicone often in his final product, where the hair is punched in with a needle/hook.

7- Carmel, CA (“Carmel by-the-Sea”). This Flickr set titled “Once Upon a Time” and another one titled “Carmel, California” from Linda Yvonne are the perfect explanation of why I would kill a goat (not really) to live in that place. It’s like living on Middle Earth or something. I love it so much, I actually have those sets saved on my “inspiration” folder. Unfortunately, Carmel is very exclusive and expensive, so the odds of me actually living there, are not very favorable. Fortunately, they have places like this one, for folks like me. Going for a visit is on my Bucket List.

8- John T. Unger Studio On his Etsy store, John T. Hunter sells fire bowls (whether they are a grill or a portable bonfire) that he hand-cuts from 100% recycled steel, that look as cool as he does.

9- Max Wanger I’ve been married for 18 years but I never had a wedding. And although I love the whole shebang involving weddings, I never had a problem with the fact that I never had one. *Until* I encountered the work of photographer Max Wanger. And while there are other photographers using that same style of vintage photo, so to speak, Max goes a step further, imo, with his poetic and naturally cool eye. He just gets it. Please, take your time to browse through his galleries because they are bound to make you happy (and hopeful) about love.

10-The Sartorialist ~ Now, I know that Scott Schuman’s The Sartorialist is too famous and popular to need mentioning, but I absolutely LOVE his blog and wanted to say it out loud. I have a love/hate relationship with fashion. I love fashion because of both it’s self-expression nature and aesthetic in itself. On the other hand, I really loath the whole “what’s in/out” and I think it’s really bad for society. Trends should come naturally, from the streets and not shoved in our faces as the only acceptable option. The Sartorialist celebrates what’s the best about fashion. Schuman takes his camera to the streets. The real place where fashion is made.

And that’s all folks! 🙂

Feel free to make your own. I LOVE to lea……..well, please refer to the blog title. 😉

Howdy, fellas!

Wow, over a year! God, I suck as a blogger, that’s for sure.

And what a year it has been….one can say it was not the easiest, sure, but they can’t say it was boring. On the upside: Lots of tales! (And opinions, of course… *batting eyelashes*)

I really have a lot of things on my mind lately, and would love if my ADD would let me write them all down before they fled this busy (yet easily distractable) brain…

Well, good to see you again, blog! 🙂

“Try this”

This is where I suggest stuff. Because we all know that advice is something to be given. Or so I’ve heard.

My first “try this”?

Agave Nectar in your coffee. You will never taste a better coffee in your life. It sweetens it, but the taste is so round… It can 100% appreciate the taste of coffee.

It may be wonderful with tea too (if you like tea, that is). Although , I refuse to drink my tea with any sweets at all. But you know, YMMV.

Because I’m filled with Christmas spirit…

Let’s sing!

“…You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He’s making a list
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you’re sleeping
He knows when you’re awake
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
Santa Claus is coming to town …”

Hey, Santa! You sound like a controlling freak, abusive stalker  Have you heard of Edward Cullen?

Merry Christmas! 🙂
